Guidelines

Since 2000 the Prescribing Support Team has been involved in the production of prescribing guidelines and policies. A range of local guidelines, influenced by local specialist advice, has been developed in response to release of national guidelines e.g. SIGN and local need. They are designed to help practitioners assimilate, evaluate and implement the evidence and opinion on best current practice in each clinical area.

Clinical guidelines are intended as a guide to good practice and are most effective where there is evidence of variation in practice, which affects patient outcomes. The main aim of guidelines is to assist doctors and other health professionals in making decisions about appropriate clinical and cost effective care for their patients. Listed below is the list of locally based guidelines and the date they were produced plus review date.
